So… it’s a list (Yes, it’s nailed to the wall of my kitchen)… of what could think of in 5 minutes that needs fixed, built, finished, or done around the farm.. in no particular order of importance. Starting a farm, on land that isn’t set up to be a farm, without the large scale tools commercial farms have, is pretty darn hard. The mass amount of rain we’ve had has not helped either. It has caused leakage in my brand new roof, ruined ceilings and walls, gave the chickens their own lake (the Golden Girls have not been pleased), and have made it nearly impossible to run the chainsaws. BUT we have made some great memories with the little lady, who, let’s face is the boss around here, We’ve been puddle jumping, singing and dancing in the rain, looking at how it has helped our flowers grow and the sounds in makes in the trees.
So, in all, of zone 1 (1.15 acres) and zone 2 (6 acres) that we planned to clear we’ve managed 1/4 acre in zone 1. I bought the materials to fix the fence that is being held up by dog collars. I have the solar base station for the goat fence, and have tiny piles of kindle and chips. YAY, progress!
None of this is an HGTV miracle, it will be a process, but this is our farm and we love it. We have learned that slow but still moving forward is progress. As much as I want this whole list done yesterday I know it’s not possible unless I win stupid money and can pay crews of people to come and do it.
As it’s raining yet again this morning I’ll work inside the house and the garage.. But I still have to clean the Golden Girls coop out.
